Artist Talk with Jenne Glover

  • Art of Noize 821 Upshur St. NW, Rear Washington, DC 20011 (map)

Please join us on Saturday, May 18th from 4p-6p, for the “Made With Chi” artist talk, moderated by Carol Rhodes Dyson, for a stimulating afternoon of art and fellowship.

“Made With Chi” includes works created over the last decade of Jenne Glover’s 40 years as a prolific artist. Her afro-surreal work, guided by the principles of feng shui, explores moments and movements in African-American life under systems of oppression. Her thought-provoking visual messages center on Mardi Gras, music, movement, love, spirit, and ritual bowls as epistemological and ontological frameworks in which her audience can confide while navigating social repression.

Carol Rhodes Dyson has served as the Curator-In-Residence for Busboys and Poets for the past 11 years. In this position, she centers work from artists that are both aesthetically revitalizing and socially empowering. Additionally, Rhodes Dyson is an Adjunct Professor at Howard University and the University of the District of Columbia and works as an art consultant for Juanita BZB Britton. She graduated with a BA in Art History from Howard University after co-founding a non-profit art gallery in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2017, she graduated from MICA with a MFA in Curatorial Practice. She is a proud mother and grandmother.

The pair will delve into the thematic cornerstones of “Made With Chi” as well as the stories, techniques, and spiritual practices that have influenced the exhibition.
