Please join us for the Artist Talk with current artist-in-residence George “Shomari The Artist” Smith. Mr. Smith will share his experience & insight on his mixed media body of work known as Talismans. Talismans are instruments of spiritual significance and often can be found throughout Jewish, Christian & Muslim practices.

Mr. Smith is a Brooklyn, NY native, and a Professor Emeritus for the University of The District of Columbia (UDC). He received his Bachelor’s degree from Howard University & his Master’s degree from Pratt Institute. His colleagues consider him a spiritual aesthetic warrior reflecting the genius of the African Diaspora.
