“I am a melanted woman. Defined by me as one who walks the Earth dropping with the pigment of generations of color. Color swirled into sweet batter of unique beauty, spirituality, and caring. Defined by me as one baked by the sun of the African continent, sugar cane, and cotton fields, then cooled by a harsh ocean wind. All of these melanistic experiences are represented in the work of this exhibition,” says McGill.
